crazy love | madison newborn photographer

Sarah and Matthew are in love. That is obvious from the beautiful, cartoon-hearts-shooting-out-of-their-eyes way they still look at each. They are also parents to three cherished and amazing children: Nick, Calvin and newborn baby girl Audrey. Lucky me (again, ADORE my job) got to spend a morning with them, soaking up the energy, sweetness and incredible joy thick in the air of their lovely home. I walked away smiling, content and, ok…perhaps just a tad exhausted. Worth it? Oh, yeah. Hoping to be invited back into their circle of bliss sometime soon? ABSOLUTELY.

Thanks, you guys, for sharing this unbelievably important and tender time in your life with me. You are one fun and incredible family!

Audrey Elaine…7 days old and made of magic.

Nick (5) and Calvin (3) are brothers, playmates, best friends. Sweet little guys who are ALL BOY.

The happy family of five enjoying some snuggles in Mom and Dad’s bed. Don’t you love Little Miss Thang’s funny little protest? With two big brothers, I’m glad to see her already telling them what’s what!

The lovebirds. What a joy to see them basking in the glory of each other and of their children. And does this momma not look GORGEOUS? The woman does not even look like she had a baby or a even a care in the world. You must stop that now, Sarah.

Lucky little sweetheart…born into great love and protection. Those beautiful and tender-hearted brothers of hers give boys a very good name.

Someone decided to wake up!

Dreaming of milk & clean diapers and showing off her signature pirate look.

Audrey, just chillin’. Her little “spider web” feet intrigued the boys and made us giggle.

smile power | madison family photographer

Just check out the pearly whites on this gorgeous and delightful family! I guess when Mom is a dentist, it goes with the territory. Kinda makes you want to go brush your teeth, doesn’t it?

Nicki and Scott are some of the most welcoming and genuinely joyful folks around and I was thrilled to be invited to their amazing home for a session. Their adorable little blondies, Graham and Mirra, were ready and willing so we decided to start our time together outside. Imagine our immense surprise when snowflakes began to fall just as we started shooting. Yes, I know, I know…we do live in Wisconsin. But the 10th of October, people? SERIOUSLY? Sure makes for a pretty picture, though. And a distinct and sweet memory of this day, celebrating a family.

After letting Mirra attempt to catch some on her tongue for a while, we decided to bundle up a bit and head to their unbelievable backyard. Scott is a master gardener and I cannot wait to come back in the spring to see what beautiful creations he has cultivated there!

Back inside to warm up and enjoy a little snacky.

Mirra, age 3. Tender-hearted, smart as a whip and a lover of dance and dresses.

Graham, age 5. Silly, curious, friendly. HUGE Iowa football fan. And the boy can ROCK OUT.

Off to Mommy and Daddy’s bedroom for some bed jumping and snuggle bug time.

The kids’ beloved book nook. Yep…thinkin’ I need me one of these.

The real deal with sibling shots. The one in the middle is my absolute favorite, because it’s such an accurate depiction of the relationship between brother and sisters. I can’t even remember what Miss Mirra wanted, but so love Graham’s “off-in-my-own-little-world-la-la-la” expression. The cutest.

Thanks so much for all the fun, you guys! Loved every moment.

forever family, act one | madison children’s photographer

Last August, Jenny (of Madison Mom Appeal fame) and James travelled to Ethiopia on a very important and long- awaited mission: to bring home their beautiful, beloved son Will Musa. Waiting for this lucky baby boy when he arrived was his charming and vivacious big sister Eve (the spunky ballerina first blogged about here). My time spent with this growing family was bursting with joy and giggles, the air thick with gratitude and immeasurable love. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your hearts during this unbelievably significant time in your lives, Jenny! It was a huge honor for me to share in some small part of your family’s story..so thankful I could help you tell it.

[Watch for more images of Will and Eve on the blog soon...there were so many I had to break it up a bit! Also had a sneak peek for this session a while back found here.]

Is he not the smooshiest little punkin EVER? He has steadily gained weight since coming to the States and his momma tells me he is now a very good eater. I know what you’re thinking, and yep…I will absolutely bite those cheeks for you all next time I see him.

The ethereal, magical Eve. Four years old and ready to take on the world.

What a fabulous and doting big sister she is. Don’t you love how she’s trying to “gently” direct her little brother’s attention?

The happy, deeply connected family. Even Simon the dog (whose name cracked me up due to my own, human-variety Simon) is thrilled about his new sibling. He was so excited to have company that he playfully rubbed up against my side as I was squatting down for a shot and knocked me over! Funny boy.

Love nest. Sweetness and peace.
