Let’s just say Sarah was not super jazzed about doing a maternity session. Despite the fact that I’ve photographed her & her sweet little family countless other times, she was still feeling like most expectant moms (especially those that already have children & are now growing 2 more simultaneously like our friend Sarah) do.

Exhausted. Puffy. Decidedly ungorgeous.

I promised her it would be no big whoop. I assured her she was beautiful (absolutely true). I told her she’d never regret having these images.

Turns out I was right on all counts. 🙂

And I have proof! Email from Sarah after our session:

“Thank you for coming over today.  And, really, thank you for taking all the stress and trepidation out of the session.  I really had some self-doubt about it and it turned out to be comfortable and actually pretty easy…and after seeing that image, I’m sooo happy we had the session.  It’s really, really beautiful.  Thanks again, Tara. Your work never ceases to amaze me.”

Love, love, LOVE this family. ♥

Hey! All you expectant mommas out there! (Yes, you. The one with the growing-by-the-nanosecond belly.)

Please keep in mind that the best time to schedule your own unique, modern maternity session with me is typically when you’re in the 7th or 8th month of pregnancy. I am usually booked up a month or two in advance, so be sure to contact me ASAP to accommodate your desired time. This is WAY too important to put off, lady friends!

Josh z - Amazing!

Sarah D - We love you too Tara! xo

Laura G - Oh my gosh! Beyond gorgeous! If all preggo ladies could look this beautiful. Nice job capturing this precious moment, T.

We met under the trees on a mild, autumn day. Strolling, exploring, chatting, having our nostrils stretched to 5 times their normal size.

Y’know. The usual.

Scroll down for proof.

Peeking into a family’s love bubble (drool and all) is my FAVE.

♥ t.

Julia, age 7. Quiet, thoughtful, easygoing. Giggler.

Sarah, age 9. Funny, outgoing, in charge (her momma’s words). Sweetheart.

Mary, 17 months. Happy, busy, adorable. Gleeful nose yanker.

I adore how Miss Julia is carefully monitoring her baby sister’s safety in that last frame.

Anne & Chris. Lovebirds.

an epic day | madison, wi family photographer

I left this session reluctantly & with my cheeks aching from smiles.

Not just because Duncan is quite possibly the sweetest little 6-month-old ever (which he is).

Not just because Brittany & Dan clearly adore him and each other so much they can hardly stand it (which they do).

And not because it was a magnificent fall day in a spectacular, dreamy setting (which it was).

It was all of these and the magical ease of our time together. Exploring, chatting, laughing, playing.

Makes for a relaxed, sweet, real session which then very handily produces my very favorite kind of images. Love-soaked & meaningful & pretty.

Do you have a favorite here? Please share if you do! Always fun to see what captures other photography lovers’ eyes & hearts.

Happy Friday, everyone!

Bonnie - What a cute little man! I love the line up of three colored photos where he is sharing his versatile faces. What a precious family.

James has grown up quite a bit since his last appearance on the blog. Some of the highlights in his life these past 15 months or so include:

Grew more hair.

Learned to walk. And talk.

Got loved up big time by his mommy & daddy.

Discovered a keen interest in sticks.

Became a big brother!

(After this session, obviously. Watch for shots of the sweet threesome plus an equally sweet baby Charlie very soon!)

Until then…
